Aside from the main release branch, from time to time test branches are available. These might contain experimental fixes, or upcoming content that is still in the testing phase. The main source for information about these branches will be announcements on the official discord, this page is purely for information about how to change branches within your game client.

When Changing Branches Backup Your Saves Beforehand

Whilst branches can usually be integrated into the main build and have saves carry over without issue, it is important to backup your saves before switching branches in case of any issues that are encountered due to the test nature of the branches Please see the Troubleshooting page for details of the save location. In order to backup your saves, you can simply copy the /saves/ folder to a different location.

  1. Right click on the game in your library and select Properties.
  2. Select the BETAS Tab at the top of the window
  3. From the Drop Down select the branch you are switching to, you don't need to enter a Code.
    1. If you have been given a code, enter it in the box to unlock additional options in the drop down menu
  4. Close the dialogue and the game should begin updating to the selected branch and you will see the name of the branch after the game name in your steam library.

GOG

This was made with the latest version of the GOG client, the older one is slightly different but the same principles apply so look for things that are similar.

  1. On the game page, click the Settings toggle next to Play and go to Manage Installation > Configure
  2. At the top you can select whether Beta Channels are disabled, or pick the channel you want to Opt Into, and then have further control of the build lower in the dialogue.
